The poetry
of Mahakavi Bharathiyar inspired and moved Jayashri so much
that she wanted to bring out different aspects of his poetry in
carnatic idiom, especially those which did not have a place
in a carnatic concert format. Jayashri has composed and rendered
a variety of his poetry which include love, patriotism, bhakthi,
nature and the all pervasive soul of life in this album Atma.
Contemplative and meditative is what Jayashri believes is the
real emotion of carnatic music. In the album Shravanam, she
lends to carnatic music a fresh appeal combining facets of naama
sankeerthanam, with manodharmam, rendered in unison with her
students.
Motherly love – Vatsalyam,
is what is expressed poignantly through the verses of great
savants, composed and rendered by Jayashri in different languages,
at a time when she was experiencing motherhood.
Vande Maataram - To mark India's 50th year of independence,
Jayashri scored music for Vande Maataram for an inspiring audio
visual production which was sung by herself and her peers, Sowmya,
Sanjay Subrahmanyan and P Unnikrishnan.
Salokyam - this is an album where Jayashri has taken the verses of the great saints of India and composed the tune for the verses.
Jayashri has scored music for many dance productions.
Her recent magnum level composition for an operatic presentation
was for Silapadhikaaram, a much acclaimed Tamil treatise, depicts
various emotions through ragas, styles, voices, instruments
delivered in folk, traditional classical, devotional music,
light music, pure rhythmic pattern ensembles, by using light
classical, Hindustani ragas, Carnatic, Folk and Devotional compositions.
